Removing Perspiration Stains and Odors from Fabric
Here are several steps you may use to remove every grade of perspiration
stains and odor from fabrics.
To remove perspiration stains from a washable fabrics;
- pre-treat the garment by soaking it in an enzyme pre-soak product.
- Wash or sponge the area with a solution of heavy-duty liquid detergent
and water.
- You may also treat the discoloration of fresh stains with a weak solution
of colorless, clear ammonia and water.
- Treat old stains with a white vinegar solution.
- If the stain or odor persists, don't put the garment in a dryer and don't
iron it. Heat will set the stain.
- Instead, soak the garment overnight in a warm salt solution that contains
three-fourths tablespoon of salt for each quarter of water. Then, rinse
it
- Treat the stained area with an all-purpose detergent paste and let it
stand for thirty minutes. Then, rinse it again.
- If the stain still persists, treat it with a three percent solution of
hydrogen peroxide and let it stand for another fifteen or twenty minutes.
Rinse the garment and launder it. Repeat the process if necessary.
You should take stained, non-washable clothing to a reliable dry cleaner.
