There are many plants which will provide brilliant color for your landscape through the heat of summer and until frost...with only minimum care.

Consider zinnias and marigolds

Two colorful annual flowers often taken for granted are zinnias and marigolds. Both of these plants are available in several colors and sizes. Because both zinnias and marigolds come in dwarf sizes, they are suitable for borders or ground covers...or the giant size varieties can be used for mass plantings and cuttings.

Some bloom long term

Shrimp plant, periwinkle, sultana, salvia, lantana and pentas will bloom until frost. Shrimp plant and periwinkle will thrive in the sun or in partial shade. Sultana and pentas perform best in the shade or partial sun. Sultana is available in a variety of colors and new plants are easily propagated from seed or cuttings.

Plumbago will thrive in the hottest Georgia sun and will survive periods of drought. Plumbago is valued for its continuous display of blue or white flowers.
